Language Line
Logo for Office of Ethnic Affairs Hastings District Council staff, including Library staff, can use Language Line phone interpreters when needed.

There is no charge to patrons.

Language Line allows library users with little or no English to ask for a telephone interpreter.

Using a professional interpreter is important in the following situations:
  • Dealing with sensitive issues
  • Explaining client's rights and obligations
  • In times of stress
  • Discussing complex and detailed information

Please visit your library and ask at the desk for the language you want.  We will access the Language Line service and should have an interpreter on the phone very quickly.

Language Line is only available from Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm.
