Features

  • ePukapuka OverDrive allows you to download eBooks and audiobooks from home at any time
  • By downloading and installing free software, you can use your library card and PIN to:
    • Transfer eBooks to your computer or portable devices, such as an eBook reader or smartphone
    • Transfer audiobooks to your computer or portable devices, such as an MP3 player or iPod
    • Burn some audiobooks to disc

Borrowing basics - ePukapuka OverDrive

  • Click  the ePukapuka OverDrive icon on our homepage or  here:  http://epukapuka.org 
  • Use your library card number  (all 14 digits)
  • Enter your library PIN number 
  • You can borrow up to 5 items at a time, no rental charge
  • Items are lent to you for 7 days, then are returned automatically
  • You may return eBooks before the due date, but not audiobooks
  • It is not possible to renew an item but  you may borrow an item again if it has no reserves
  • No overdues, so no overdue charges
  • You may place reserves - no charge for this. You will be notified by email when the item is available.  Reserves waiting to be issued expire after 4 days.
  • You cannot place a reserve on an item while you have it on issue
  • Remove items from your devices when finished
  • eBooks and audio books you have on loan are not listed on your ordinary library account
  • Can't log in? 
    • Check you have typed in your library card number correctly - (UPDATE - PLEASE ENTER ALL THE DIGITS OF YOUR LIBRARY CARD)
    • Check you have typed in your PIN number correctly.
    • Do you have charges on your card?  Possibly a reserved book has arrived in the library for you and applied a charge which will block access. 
    • Do you have overdue items on your library card? 
      Login to the Catalogue
      and renew online first.

What you need

  • An internet connected computer or mobile device.
  • A valid library card and library PIN - ask for this to be added to your card if you don't have one.
  • Free required software for ebooks and audiobooks
    • Go to ePukapuka, then read through the Getting Started information

How it works

Step 1 - Browse
  • Step 1 - Click  the ePukapuka OverDrive icon on our homepage or  here:  http://epukapuka.org  

  • Step 2 - Browse through the eBooks and audiobooks or
  • Search by title, subject, author or format
     
  • Step 3 - Check out
  • When you find a title that interests you, open its record by click on the cover.
  • Scroll down to Description to read about it. You can also click the tabs Format Info and Reviews & More
  • Scroll back up to see if there is a copy available.
  • If you are still selecting other titles, you may click Add to Wish List
  • If you are sure you would like to issue the item, click " Add to cart" - it will remain there for 30 minutes
  • If a title is not available, you may place a reservation.  You will receive an email when the title is available to checkout.
  • When you have finished browsing, click on the "proceed to checkout" link and enter your library card number (the nine digits after the 24201) and PIN.
     
  • Step 4 - Download and enjoy!
  • Click the "download" button under each title to lauch the software.
  • Once downloaded, enjoy immediately or transfer to a variety of portable devices.
  • Titles will expire automatically at the end of the 7 day lending period - no late fees!
     
  • Transfer to a mobile device
  • After download, most titles can be transferred to a mobile device. 
  • First connect your device to your computer, then
  • For Audiobooks, click the "Transfer" button in Overdrive Media Console to launch the Transfer Wizard and follow the onscreen prompts,
  • For eBooks in Adobe Digital Editions, drag and drop the title onto the device name on the left panel.
  • After transfer is complete, you may disconnect your device and enjoy.
  • Visit www.overdrive.com/resources/drc for a list of compatible devices.  Remember, Kindles are not compatable with Overdrive in New Zealand.
     
  • Burn to CD
  • After download, audio titles can be burned to CD.
  • Click the "Burn" button in Overdrive Media Console to launch the burn wizard.
  • Select the parts you wish to burn - you will need one CD for each part.
  • When the burn is complete, enjoy your title on the go
  •  Remember to remove items from your devices when finished.
