• You may request an item held in Napier or Taradale Libraries and have it sent to a Hastings District Library

What can I request on City Loan?

• You may request any item from the "free" book collections. Now includes Graphic Novels.

Not available on City Loan are:

• Audio-visuals, including DVDs, videos, CDs, talking books & language kits
• Rental items
• Reference / Heritage items
• Magazines

How do I make a City Loan request? 

• Search the Napier Libraries Catalogue
• Fill in the online City Loans form
• Email enquiries can be made to: City Loans Librarian
• Phone requests: please ring Hastings Central Library and ask for the City Loans Librarian
• In person: come to the library and fill out a City Loan form.  You will need:
      * Your library card (you must be a member of the Hastings District Libraries)
      * Information such as title, author, periodical date of item      

How much do City Loans cost?

• See Reserves, City Loan & Interloan charges 

How will I know when the item is available?

• You will receive a notice by mail or email when the item is available for you to collect
• Come in with your library card to have your request issued

How long will the City Loan take to arrive?

• We will do our utmost to get the item to you as soon as possible 
• It is difficult to estimate a date as this is determined by the current borrower and the reserves waiting list

How long may I keep the City Loan?

• The normal Hastings District Libraries loan period applies

Can the City Loan be renewed?

• Sorry, City Loan items may not be renewed

Overdue charges

• City Loans are issued on borrowers' cards and the usual overdue charges apply
• Overdue notices are posted or emailed

May I do my own searching?

• You are welcome to search the Napier Libraries Catalogue
• If you do your own searching, the City Loan fee is still payable on making eachCity Loan request 
• This is not a search fee but goes towards the cost of processing the request

If I have a Napier Library card, can I place my own reserve?

• Yes, if you have a Napier Library card and PIN number you may choose to reserve an item yourself through the Napier Online Catalogue 
• With this option you will need to collect the item from one of the Napier Libraries and return it there as well
• Their usual reserve charge will apply
