Suggest a Purchase

Can't find an item in the library? We welcome suggestions for purchase by our customers.

Items are considered and purchased if they fall within our selection guidelines.  If it is decided not to purchase, an alternative is to apply for an Interloan from another library.

We encourage you to make the suggestion via the Library Catalogue, but you are also welcome to do this by phone, in person or email to Suggest a Purchase.

Placing a Suggestion for Purchase via the Library Catalogue

  • Click on Suggest a Purchase on the left hand side of the Library Catalogue
  • Log in with your library card and PIN
  • Your suggestion will be sent to our team of buyers and noted on your card underRequests
  • If a decision is made to buy the item you will be placed on the reserve list
  • You will be informed when we decide not to purchase the item

Click here to go to the Catalogue Suggest a Purchase page.

Don't have a PIN? Ask next time you call into the library and we can add one to your card.  Ask also about adding a User Name.

Selection Guidelines

Items cannot be purchased if they are out of print.  Other limitations may be:

  • Very specialised items
  • Items of interest only to a small number of people
  • The number of copies already held is considered sufficient.
