Gaz GanNet - Welcome

Gaz sayz - Welcome to our website!

Gaz is amazzzed the library let a mere Morus Serrator loose to flit about their new website.

Gaz is a typical Morus Serrator (that's Australasian Gannet to you).  He loves his seafood.

He loves swooping and diving and biting at ankles.  Had lots of practice when he was a chick at the Cape.

However he is also a nerdy birdy, loves books AND technology.  So much so that he should have been a librarian when he grew up instead of a fisherbird.

Blown off course on one of his forays into Hawke Bay (see nautical charts), he landed on the roof of the Library.  Through the window he spied all sorts of exciting treasures, from books to DVDs, CDs, newspapers and computers! Following a school group inside he checked out the storytime session and signed up for his library card.

A quick learner, he soon had himself signed up with Twitter.  Although tweeting seems a bit tame to this squawker, he soon got the hang of it, and started tweeting about the library, his favourite home away from home.

Gaz haz graduated from merely tweeting on Twitter to becoming a fully fledged webbird for the library.

He is now part of the furniture at the library - well part of the carpet actually, as his image is underfoot everywhere.   Gaz is also on the Hastings District Libraries logo and library card, encouraging all to "let your mind soar".
