As soon as you get your assignment, think about finding information, use your school library and public library
Start early as others may be looking for the same topic
Bring a copy of your assignment to the library
If you have a choice of topics, come to the library before you choose, so you can choose a topic where there is lots of material.
Bring your library card or...
Ask about joining the library - there's no charge!
Bring a pen or pencil and some paper
Bring money for the photocopier or printer
Ask a librarian for help - we have lots of resources
Encyclopaedias may also have information on your topic. They often give you a good overview
