A long lost short story by Roald Dahl was recently found in a garage in California and sold last night on an auction website for $1,900. It is just 2 pages long and called 'The Eyes of Mr Croaker'. It was originally written in 1982 for a storybook in which various authors wrote the openings of short stories for children to finish themselves. Dahl was paid $200, but the storybook was never published.
This is how the story starts: "Not one single person in the whole neighbourhood liked old Mr Croaker. It wasn't just the way he looked, though that was bad, nor the nasty way he talked, though that was worse. It was not only his strange dark house on the edge of the woods that put people off. It was something frightening about his eyes."
Creepy...huh?
