Hastings Library has a Local History Collection covering the history of Hastings and District. These are Reference items and may only be used in the library. In addition there are many items available in the lending collections.
Both Hastings and Havelock North Libraries have Community Archives. These are available Monday to Friday only, and it is best to make an appointment with the Archives Librarian at either library.
Material held includes books, journals, ephemera and a significant number of photos.
The Community Archives do not include Council records. These are held by the Hastings District Council Archives.

The family arrived in NZ on 4/1/1878. He was an expressman and had stables and a depot building for his carrying business in Karamu Road."
