Print

See the list below for print newspapers (mainly New Zealand) held in Hastings District Libraries.  Newspapers not held in print may be viewed on Press Display.

New Zealand newspapers are kept for three months, however the Hawke's Bay Today is kept in Hastings Library for one year (print) and indefinitely (microfilm).

Hastings Library has available on microfilm the following newspapers:

•     HB Tribune                Dec 1910 - Jun 1937
•     HB Herald Tribune     1937 [Jan] - 1970 [Apr], 1970 [Jun] - 1978 [Nov], 1979 [Jan] - 01 May 1999
•     Hawke's Bay Today    Apr 1999 -

Online & Databases

• Our libraries subscribe to databases providing searchable access to New Zealand & international news  - see Databases
• Press Display - a huge range of current newspapers, both New Zealand and international. The most recent edition plus 60 days. Use in libraries only.
• Historic New Zealand newspapers can be accessed on Papers Past from home or in our libraries:
  http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz
• News can be read online - no charge for 30 minutes.
