Festival Glimpsesby Paige Turner The eagerly awaited Hastings Festival of Writers kicked off on Friday, 1st April with ‘The Pleasure of Taste’, hosted by Hester Guy and John Saker at Clearview Estate. Then on Saturday, yours truly was just one of the keen readers who attended the three ‘conversations’ a series of literary courses that made up a sumptuous meal of an altogether different kind. A fitting entrée was 'A Conversation' with Cilla McQueen, chaired by local poet Marty Smith. Cilla, a New Zealand Poet Laureate, was a pleasure to listen to, sharing old favourites as well as poems from her latest volume, 'The Radio Room'. |
