Databases for Research

From homework help, through secondary school and tertiary level, to adult general interest, to health topics, law, funding, scholarships, our databases provide access to a huge range of online resources, on just about every topic

From home you can search encyclopedias and also use our databases find thousands of journal and newspaper articles in full text.

Hastings District Libraries subscribe to a wide range of databases, greatly extending our collections.

Most are available to use from home - use your library card number for login ID.

 

Junior Collections

All three libraries have great collections of children's items, including books, puzzles, CDs, DVDs, cassettes and talking books.

All ages are catered for, from toddlers to teens. 

Parents - you are welcome to ask the Children's Librarians for books that best suits your child's age and stage in reading.

Young Adult Collections

All three libraries have Young Adult Collections and elsewhere in the library are CDs, DVDs, videos and of course, books that teens are welcome to borrow. Online Databases are also available for homework research.

Duffy Books in Homes

Duffy Books in Homes Public Library Programmes

In an exciting initiative The Association of Public Library Managers (APLM) has joined forces with Duffy Books in Homes to offer Duffy kids all around New Zealand a free book reward when they use their public library regularly.

The Duffy Books in Homes Programme features a theatre show that visits all schools participating in the programme - this year’s show is Duffy’s Book Bus Adventure. The interactive show, put on by talented young kiwi blokes, is a fun way of showing the joys and benefits of reading.

Maths is Fun

One of our programmes held at during school holidays is Maths is Fun.  This is a programme full of games and activities for children from Year 1 -8. Designed to interest, encourage and stimulate children to have fun with basic numeracy skills and accept them as part of their daily lives.

There are take home incentives, activity sheets, certificate of completion, Finale party and FUN!

Dice and card games, dominoes, pentominoes, magic squares, code games and much more!

Enrolment is required. Call into your library to enroll - places are limited!
