Our Non Fiction collections are arranged by subject according to the Dewey Decimal system.

New Zealand items are identified by a NZ fern label on the spine, and travel guides have an aeroplane label.

Shelved in the Adult Non Fiction are in Hastings Library are the Community Languages & ESOL collections.

Avoid the waiting lists and borrow the latest best sellers! These are displayed prominently in each of the Hastings District Libraries.
Library members have the choice of reserving a free copy (and waiting) or, if it is on the Best Seller shelves, paying to borrow immediately.

Our Large Print Collections include the following separate genre sections, identified by genre spine labels
Large Print General, Large Print Mystery, Large Print Non Fiction, large Print Romance & Large Print Western.

We also have a Regional Large Print Collection. Books in this collection are funded by and rotated around libaries in the Hastings District, Napier, Taradale, Gisborne, Wairoa, Waipukurau and Waipawa. This sharing of resources helps to ensure variety.
