Children under 16 years have a Junior membership
- A junior registration form requires the signature and ID of a parent or guardian, and proof of address. We also record the school attended
- Children's cards are issued for their personal use
- Junior items on a child's card are eligible for junior overdue charges
- A junior item taken out on an adult card is eligible for adult extended loan charges
- Some junior items have rental charges, e.g. Children's DVDs & CDs
- From the age of 16 adult charges apply. The first time you use your library card after turning sixteen, staff will explain the new charges to you
Guarantors for junior members agree:
- That the library cannot be held responsible for the suitability of materials borrowed
- To ensure that the child's books are returned on time, to pay charges and make good any loss or damage incurred in the child's name
Kidz Cards
- A Kidz card provides an adult with a special extra card that he / she can use to issue items for the child/ren in his / her care
- The Kidz card is available to any current member of the library, 18 years or over, who is prepared to be guarantor to the child/ren concerned
- The adult guarantor and childr/ren need to be current library members
- Examples are -
- Some schools holds their students' library cards. Parents may have Kidz cards.
- Separated parents
- Relations acting as caregivers
- Adult childminders / nannies
- Each parent requiring a card
