eBooks

Beginners Guide to ePukapuka

What do you need?

  • An internet connected computer or mobile device, such as a tablet or eBook reader
  • A valid Hastings District Library card with pin number
  • Free software or apps relevant to your device

Go to the Libaries' eBook website: http://epukapuka.lib.overdrive.com

Getting Started: PC or eReader

To read or listen to books on a home computer or eReader device you will need to download and install the free software.  On the ePukapuka website go to Help then Software to find both:

  • Overdrive Media Console
  • Adobe Digital Editions

Install one or both depending on your needs.

Getting Started: iPad, Tablet or mobile device

  • Overdrive Media Console: To read or listen to books on a table or mobile device, visit the Apps store for your device and download the Overdrive Media Console.  This app is for eBooks and Audiobooks.
  • Adobe ID: For both PC and mobile devices you must create an Adobe ID and authorise your device before being able to download books. A link to this can be found in Adobe Digital Editions for PCs (in Help) or in the Overdrive Console for mobile devices (in Settings).
  • This Adobe ID is required for the security of the books and you will be prompted to enter it if you try to download a book to a device that has not been authorised. Failure to do this is the most common reason for books not appearing on a PC or mobile device.
