Gaz Sayz - Books are Cool

Everyone loves a good story!

One of the most important activities parents can share with children is reading...for enjoyment!

Here are Gaz'z tips for storytime...

Gaz Sayz - Libraries are Awesome for Communities

"Public libraries at their best are the heartbeat of communities, providing knowlege, pleasure, services and support to all at every stage of their lives."  Said by someone important.

At Hastings District Libraries we work closely with our communities to ensure services we are providing enhance their social, cultural and economic wellbeing.

Programmes are developed and implemented in our three libraries depending on the communities wants and needs.

Gaz Says - Homework is easier for an organised bird!

  • As soon as you get your assignment, think about finding information, use your school library and public library
  • Start early as others may be looking for the same topic
  • Bring a copy of your assignment to the library
  • If you have a choice of topics, come to the library before you choose, so you can choose a topic where there is lots of material
  • Bring your library card or...
  • Ask about joining the library - there's no charge!
  • Bring a pen or pencil and some paper
  • Bring money for the photocopier or printer
  • Ask a librarian for help - we have lots of resources
  • Encyclopaedias may also have information on your topic. They often give you a good overview
